Those who claim Universal Credit will see their payments upped from this week. Other benefits from the Department of Work and Pensions increased by 10.1 per cent from April 1.
However, due to the way it's paid, the Universal Credit increase has taken longer to kick in. Unlike some other benefits, the payment is paid monthly and is calculated based on your circumstances for that month.
As reported by The Mirror, the DWP has confirmed that claimants would see the higher rate from Tuesday (May 16). Minister for Employment Guy Opperman MP confirmed the news in a response to Labour MP Dame Nia Griffith earlier this week.
