Brits will enjoy five bank holidays across April and May, with an extra day off coming thanks to the King's Coronation. For people receiving Universal Credit, the State Pension, or other benefits, this may mean changes to the dates on which they are paid.
The first two bank holidays will be on Good Friday and Easter Monday – April 7 and April 10. May Day, on Monday, May 1, will also be a day off, with the King's Coronation on Saturday May 6 meaning there will be an extra bank holiday on the following Monday, May 8. The fifth Bank Holiday of the Spring will be on Monday, May 29.
As benefits are paid on working days, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) generally changes payment dates if they fall on bank holidays. Claimants will usually receive their money on the working day before it was due, so for instance if you are meant to be paid on Good Friday (April 7) or Easter Monday (April 10), you will get it on Thursday, April 6.

This has been what has happened in previous years, according to the Manchester Evening News. The publication has contacted the DWP to ask if there are any exceptions or any other dates on which people will be paid early.
If you get paid early because of a bank holiday, you will still receive the same amount as normal and you will not need to do anything, as the change will happen automatically. If you're due to be paid on Monday, May 1, you can expect it instead on Friday, April 28.
Those expecting a payment on Monday, May 8, will most likely receive it on Friday, May 5. And those with a payment due on Monday, May 29, will probably receive it on Friday, May 26.
Benefits are usually paid directly into your bank, building society or credit union account. Normally, if you are due to receive your money on a bank holiday, it will paid on the working day before, but this can vary between different types of benefit, so it is worth checking your own.
Here is the full list of when to expect benefits payments when the payment dates fall on bank holidays:
Easter bank holiday payments will be made on April 6, if you are expecting your payment on April 7 or 10.
Early May bank holiday payments will be made on April 28, instead of May 1.
Payments expected on May 8 (King Charles III's coronation) will be paid out on May 5.
Spring bank holiday payments will be made on May 26, instead of May 29.
Summer bank holiday payments will be made on August 25, instead of August 28.
Payments expected on December 25, 26 and 27 this year will instead be paid out on December 22, ahead of Christmas.
