The Department of Work and Pensions is to give backpay totalling £150 million to 50,000 claiming Universal Credit.
It comes after two people who moved from other benefits to Universal Credit (UC) won a legal challenge after their payments dropped.
The men, known as TP and AR, were each getting an extra £180 a month in their old benefits before the UC roll-out, BirminghamLive reports.
