Crisis funding for tenants in England and Wales is being slashed to its lowest level in a decade – despite soaring rents and living costs.
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has announced it is cutting Discretionary Housing Payments (DHPs) by £40m in 2022/23, down to £100m.
That is a cut of nearly 30% from the £140m it provided in 2021/22, and well down from £180m in 2020/21.
