A new scheme being run by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) will help Sky customers access cheaper broadband rates.
The broadband giant has become the first major connectivity provider to join the initiative, which aims to make it easier for benefit claimants to receive discounted broadband and mobile tariffs. According to the DWP, low-income families could save as much as £180 a year compared to standard industry tariffs.
The DWP will automatically verify which customers are eligible for the scheme. This means that eligible claimants will not need to prove they claim benefits while on a tariff designed for low-income households, as they previously had to do.
