Personal Independent Payments are given to millions of people across the UK - but how are they awarded and how long are they paid for?
PIP is a Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) benefit for anyone aged over 16 and under the state pension age with a disability, mental health condition or long-term illness. Recent data shows that more than three million people in the UK get PIP payments ranging from £24.45 and £156.90 per week.
The benefit is paid every four weeks, meaning claimants are getting between £97.80 and £627.60 every payment period. How much PIP you get depends on how difficult it is for you to carry out certain everyday tasks. This includes preparing and eating food, washing and getting dressed, basic toilet needs and moving around.
