DWP: New State Pension payment warning for people set to reach official retirement age

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has issued a warning to people who are soon set to become eligible to claim the New State Pension. Recent statistics show that around 12.6 million people across the nation currently receive State Pension support.

The cash is available for people who have reached 66-years-old - the official UK retirement age - and paid at least 10 years' worth of National Insurance. However, people approaching this age may miss out on payments of up to £203.85 a week.

As reported by the Daily Record, many people are not be aware that the benefit is not paid automatically by the DWP. Instead, it needs to be claimed.
