Millions of households are being urged to check they have received an extra winter payment worth hundreds of pounds which should have landed in their bank accounts. More than 11 million pensioners across the UK were set to receive a Winter Fuel Payment and Pensioner Cost of Living Payment which could be worth up to £600 per household.
The payments have been handed out to help pensioners with their energy bills and other household budgets. All payments should have been made by January 13 - meaning people eligible should now check to make sure they have received it, Manchester Evening News reports.
The payments will appear in bank statements with the reference beginning with the customer's National Insurance number followed by 'DWP WFP' for those in Great Britain, or 'DFC WFP' for those in Northern Ireland.
