An update has been issued about this year's Winter Fuel Payments scheme. The scheme is being boosted this year in an attempt to help households deal with the cost of living crisis, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has confirmed.
Those who are eligible for financial help through the measure will see their payments doubled. This means that people could get up to £600 and if two separate people in the same household qualify for that, they'll both get the money, giving a total of £1,200, reports LancsLive.
It is estimated that more than eight million households will benefit from the Winter Fuel Payment across the UK. The majority of payments will be made automatically in November and December - but all payments being issued by January 13 2023 at the latest.
