DWP: £691 monthly payments for millions on PIP and Disability Living Allowance from April

Millions of people currently in receipt of Personal Independence Payments (PIP), Adult Disability Payments (ADP), Disability Living Allowance (DLA) and Child Disability Payments are expected to receive up to £691 every month from April. The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) will be paying out regular payments every four weeks, with sums ranging from £107.60 to £691.

It comes as part of changes which will see the State Pension and such benefits rise by 10.1% in April. Currently, those claiming any of the benefits listed above receive between £97.80 and £627.60 every payment period, The Daily Record reports. This new sum will mean a monthly increase of up to £63.40 for some of the UK's most vulnerable households.

It is worth noting however, these figures are representative of the minimum award possible, a single award for the lower rate mobility only, and the highest awards for both the daily care and mobility components.

People above the State Pension age, with a health condition or disability, will also see their weekly payments rise to either £68.10 for the lower rate or £101.75 for the higher rate and, as there is only daily care for the Attendance Allowance - and no mobility component - monthly payments will either be £272.40 or £407.

The proposed payment rate changes, which have been published by the DWP on Gov.uk (here), will come into effect on April 10,2023. You can find a full list of all disability payment rate changes for 2023/2024 below...
