The highly anticipated Christmas action-comedy 'Red One', starring Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans, kicked off its theatrical release this weekend. The movie, which boasts a production budget exceeding $200 million, is projected to earn between $30 million and $33 million in its opening weekend, including about $12 million on its opening day.
While the film is off to a slow start at the box office, it is expected to surpass the debut of other festive films like 'The Polar Express' ($23.3M) and 'Fred Claus' ($18.5M). It’s also performing along the lines of other holiday hits such as 'Elf', which opened with $32.1M in 2003.
