Drivers hoping to tax their vehicle this weekend will not be able to due to the DVLA service being temporarily unavailable. The driving authority has issued a warning stating that certain online services will be unavailable from Friday evening until Saturday afternoon as its website undergoes maintenance updates.
However, the DVLA has assured drivers that paper applications will not be affected. An announcement on its website states changes are being made to the website due to the Spring Budget, and that from April 1 car tax costs will increase, reports The Daily Record.
A statement published on Thursday read: "Some of our online vehicle services will be unavailable on Friday 31 March and Saturday 1 April as we are making changes due to announcements in the recent Budget." The news comes as drivers have been warned that car tax prices will increase by 10.1 percent, in line with the Retail Price Index that measures inflation.
