Dutch MP Wilders Stands Firm With Israel Amidst Conflict‌ ‌

We all stand with Israel!” says Geert Wilders on his X page. The Dutch Member of Parliament and Chairman Party for Freedom (PVV) voiced his opinion on the current Israel and Palestinian conflict that has seen over 41,000 people killed including 103 journalists since the war broke out in October last year.

The MP with over 1.4 million followers on X has led the right-wing populist Party for Freedom (PVV) since he founded it in 2006. Wilders is also the party’s leader in the House of Representatives, having held a parliamentary seat since 1998.

In another separate post written in Dutch, he raised his concerns on the influx of refugees in Europe. He wants to propose during the upcoming General Political Considerations in The House of Representatives that the Netherlands declare Syria partly safe and in principle no longer grant Syrians residence permits. This follows a German court ruling on Syria being safe with Sweden and Denmark following suit. He said that it would be an important step because Syrians are the largest group of all asylum applicants, with the move substantially alleviating both Netherland’s security and asylum crisis.

“The barbarians of Islamic State (ISIS) claimed terror attack in Solingen, Germany, “in revenge for Muslims in Palestine and everywhere,” said another post on his wall. He was responding to an Islamic State claim of responsibility of an attack in the city of Solingen, Germany where an Islamic State soldier reportedly attacked a gathering of Christians in retaliation for the attacks on Palestinians.

“A knife-wielding attacker killed three and injured eight at a 650th-anniversary celebration in Solingen, Germany on Friday,” said media reports. A 26-yr. old Syrian man suspected to be responsible for the attack is currently remanded in custody by order of the investigating judge.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz condemned the fatal stabbing in Solingen, terming it as a terrorist attack aimed at the entire German population. “That was terrorism. Terrorism against us all, threatening our lives, our sense of community, the way we live,” said Scholz while visiting the scene of the attack.

Scholz added that he plans to intensify legal deportations if necessary, while calling for sustained enforcement of existing laws. Millions of Syrians have fled their homes to seek refuge in neighboring countries and Europe. This mass migration has posed significant challenges for European nations in terms of security, increased terrorism activities, accommodation and integration.

Wilders is best known for his hard stance on anti-immigration, opposition to Islam and for his relations with Russia. Wilders views have made him a controversial figure globally and has been protected by armed police since 2004.
