The jersey of your football club will also spark a bit of debate - and at Newcastle United, the design of the kit is no different.
Whether it's the 1996 Grandad collar, the 2000 Wembley shirt, or for some the present-day Castore design, the debate about which one is the best will rage on until the end of time. There's already so much speculation about next season's shirt - heightened by the prospect of a new sponsor - fans are eager to see what the players will be wearing.
Meanwhile, the club shop and Castore have slashed the prices of this season's jerseys - and fans are making the most of a bargain.

Yet for one fan, Mike from Holland, he's got his very own unique Toon top. Mike and his dad were at St James' Park more than eight hours before Newcastle faced Leicester City - they wanted photos in front of Alan Shearer's statue.
It was there Mike was spotted wearing a homemade version of this season's top. His dad explained: "I ordered the original for Christmas back in November but got a message to say it wouldn't arrive in time.
"So I made this one myself, so I had a Christmas gift."
It's a fine effort from Mike's dad - who has taken a plain white top, got out some felt tip pens, and turned it into a replica of this season's strip - with Castore and Fun 88 logos added in too.
Mike wears with it pride - and also wanted to share a message for his countryman Sven Botman who the pair were particularly looking to see play against Leicester City.
Speaking in Dutch, Mike said: "Sven, congratulations. You're going to get that Champions League ticket tonight. We are so proud of you. Thank you for representing us here on behalf of the Netherlands."
