Delhi University Students’ Union election results 2026 are beginning to start counting today, September 19, at 8 AM with attention focused on the closely watched presidential contest between ABVP’s Yash Dabas, NSUI’s Vijay Shankar Meena and the AISA-SFI alliance’s Ananya Raturi. Voting for the DUSU elections took place across Delhi University colleges on September 18, with more than 1.51 lakh students eligible to vote. The overall turnout was recorded at 40.46 per cent.
The DUSU election is being held for four central posts, president, vice-president, secretary and joint secretary. A total of 20 candidates are in the final contest, including seven candidates for president, five for vice-president and four each for secretary and joint secretary. ABVP, NSUI and the AISA-SFI alliance have fielded candidates for all four central posts.

After the 13th round of counting, NSUI’s Vijay Shankar Meena leads the presidential race with 15,212 votes against ABVP’s Yash Dabas at 14,919. Independent Deepanshu Shokeen leads the vice-president contest with 19,964 votes, while ABVP’s Riya Chhawdi leads secretary with 12,750 votes. NSUI’s Gopal Choudhary leads joint secretary with 10,403 votes, ahead of ABVP’s Lakshya Raj Singh at 9,728. Counting for the four central DUSU posts continues at Delhi University amid tight security.

After the 12th round of counting, NSUI’s Vijay Shankar Meena leads the presidential race with 14,530 votes against ABVP’s Yash Dabas at 14,106. Independent Deepanshu Shokeen leads Vice President with 18,943 votes. ABVP’s Riya Chhawdi leads Secretary with 12,046, while NSUI’s Gopal Choudhary leads Joint Secretary with 9,867, ahead of independent Vishesh Yadav at 9,526. Former NSUI DUSU president Arun Hooda told ANI, the BJP and ABVP were “losing” in the ongoing DUSU elections, attributing the trend to what he called unfulfilled promises on jobs, education, hostels, fee waivers and women’s security. Hooda said, “That is why the country's youth are voting against the BJP and PM Modi today.” He further claimed that either NSUI or an independent candidate would win. His remarks came as counting continued, with NSUI leading the presidential race and independents ahead in two posts.
