Dustin Poirier has slapped a fan who made a sign using Conor McGregor's famous catchphrase mocking his wife.
Poirier has been embroiled in a bitter rivalry with UFC superstar McGregor for several years which appeared to end in July 2021 after his rival broke his leg when 'The Diamond' had his hand raised for a second consecutive time. However the Irishman vowed to continue their bitter feud and launched into a furious rant while waiting for medical treatment on the canvas.
Since then the pair have traded regular verbal barbs on social media with McGregor, who is potentially looking to set up a fourth UFC meeting in the future. But despite seeing the back of McGregor for now, there is always signs of his famous rant and it happened once again at a Mardi Gras parade attended by the American.
A fan held up a sign with the words 'Your wife is in my dm's' which was famously used by McGregor to mock his rival while on the floor receiving treatment. Poirier's truck drove down the road where he stood next to his wife Jolie greeting fans, and it slowly approached the heckler who held the sign.
Poirier caught wind of the sign reading it as he approached the car holding it up for the American to see in an awkward moment between both. The UFC star quickly leant down and swung a slap at the heckler who, surprised, decided to back off and gesture at the star who was driven away faster down the road.
The UFC star continued to make gestures at the fan who seemed stunned by the incident and the pair were separated by the distance between the truck and his viewpoint. Other fans in the comments were left gobsmacked by the incident but praised Poirier's role in the altercation, with one writing: “What an absolute melon, Dustin should’ve slapped him harder.”

Another agreed: "People are actually mad at Dustin for this. In my opinion, he should've gotten out of the car and broken his nose.” One believed the heckler was lucky he was in a truck, adding: "Imagining if Dustin got off the car and just knocked the dude out in front of the whole parade.”
McGregor's rant was a memorable part of their showdown but many believed he crossed a line by introducing Poirier's wife Jolie to their fiery rivalry. His X-rated rant also saw him vow that their rivalry wasn't over after the injury ended their octagon clash prematurely, and McGregor will finally return for the first time this year against Michael Chandler as part of the UFC's series The Ultimate Fighter.
