When is Wicker coming out in Australia and New Zealand?
While some lucky baddies got to feast their eyes on the Wicker peen in August at the Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF), the rest of us normies will be able to ride the ride (hehe) on November 5, 2026.
What is Wicker about?
While most of us (and I mean myself and the internet) are extremely interested in the physical intimacy of it all, Wicker is an adaptation of Ursula Willis-Jones‘ 2008 short story, The Wicker Husband.
In the story, a single fisherwoman asks a basketmaker to weave her a husband after she was teased by fellow villagers for being partnerless. Surprisingly, her Wicker Husband is legit and comes to life, and exceeds all expectations of a perfect partner — yes, including the sex — which sparks tensions within the village.
While the story appears to be commentary on relationships, conformity, belonging and more, the internet was initially captured by the incredibly passionate *spicy* scenes.
Take a peep below:
Who is in Wicker?
Our leading lady is played by the beloved British actor and comedian Olivia Colman, and her Wicker Husband is portrayed by Alexander Skarsgård, who is absolutely perfect for playing a hunk of woven spunk.
The cast also includes Peter Dinklage, who is our master basketweaver, and Australia’s own Elizabeth Debicki.
Welp, be sure to mark your calendar for this one, divas!!! I wonder what the popcorn bucket will look like…
