Dunnes Stores is urgently recalling batches of a tomato product due to the presence of a pesticide.
The FSAI is warning the public against the consumption of the following batches of Dunnes Stores Semi Dried Cherry Tomatoes:
Pack size 120g with use-by dates of 21.04.2022, 06.05.2022, 20.05.2022.
This is due to the presence of pesticide chlorpyrifos-methyl which is no longer approved for food use in the EU.
A notice on the FSAI website said the consumption of the implicated batches may not pose an immediate risk to health, but "continuous consumption of chlorpyrifos-methyl over a long period of time may pose a potential risk to health".
It went on to say: "Therefore, exposure to this substance needs to be minimised. Point-of-sale recall notices will be displayed in stores supplied with the implicated batches."
Last week, multiple products sold at Dunnes Stores shops across Ireland were urgently recalled.
The food products are subject to the "voluntary recall" due to the possible presence of listeria.
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland shared the alert on Friday and explained that it follows the withdrawal of some cabbages and carrots by Milnes Foods Ltd.
A number of batches are impacted by the recall, including nine products sold at Dunnes Stores.
