Timothée Chalamet has shared the official first look at his character Paul Atreides in the forthcoming film Dune: Part Three on Monday.
Shortly after Chalamet dropped the image, more pictures for the other characters were shared on the film’s official social media.
Denis Villeneuve’s epic adaptation of Frank Herbert’s influential sci-fi saga received critical acclaim upon release, with Dune: Part Two grossing over $631m worldwide, making it the highest-grossing film of 2024.
The third film will be based on Herbert’s 1969 novel Dune Messiah, the second book in the original Dune series.
The new image shows Chalamet in a Fremen stillsuit, with red scarring and deep wrinkles around his eyes, a detour from how Paul looked in the first two films.
New images also show returning characters (Zendaya), Stilgar (Javier Bardem), Lady Jessica (Rebecca Ferguson), Irulan (Florence Pugh), Alia Atreides (Anya Taylor-Joy) and Farok (Isaach De Bankolé).

This is also the first look at Robert Pattinson, who joined the franchise in this film as the new villain Scytale. In the books, Scytale is a Tleilaxu Face Dancer, a genetically engineered shapeshifter and master manipulator who plays a central role in a conspiracy to overthrow Emperor Paul Atreides.
Dune: Part Three is expected to follow directly from the events of Dune: Part Two, which ended with Paul overthrowing the Emperor, claiming the throne and setting a Fremen-led holy war in motion across the galaxy. Part Three is expected to open with Paul already in power, dealing with the consequences of that decision.
The film’s trailer is expected next week, and production started in July last year. The Wonka actor was seen wearing a baseball cap on his head, with a green bandana wrapped around it. Chalamet’s fans noticed at the time that the actor’s trademark wavy locks appeared to be missing, which led to speculation that he may have shaved his head.
Ferguson, who plays Paul’s mother and a Bene Gesserit adept navigating political and religious power, has revealed that she has just one scene in the forthcoming film.
“I just dipped my toe in. I have no, sort of, comments on it,” she told Josh Horowitz on his Happy Sad Confused podcast. “The script is great, I’ve read it. I think it’s gonna be fantastic. But my journey was No. 1 and 2. I don’t even think [Lady Jessica] was supposed to be in 3. And then Denis was like, ‘I need to have one scene,’ and I get one scene.”
“And that was a weird feeling, walking onto a set that you know so well, and knowing that you don’t have a part of it. There’s a lot of FOMO. And the acceptance of, ‘This is just what it is.’ You just have to serve [the story].”
Dune: Part Three lands in cinemas on 18 December.
