Dundee football stars team up to test new Fridays takeaway

Local football stars have tested Dundee’s latest takeaway restaurant.

Players from Dundee FC and Dundee United dropped in to Fridays and Go yesterday afternoon.

As well as sampling some of the delights on the menu, they also tried their hands at juggling and hoolahooping.

Dundee FC's Cammi Kerr teamed up with Josh Mulligan and Max Anderson for a bit of pavement action as bemused locals wandered by.

While Dundee United were represented by Ryan Edwards, Calum Butcher, Nicky Clark and Lewis Neilson.

We showcased the opening of the new takeaway in Reform Street yesterday - the much loved restaurant chain’s inaugural quick service restaurant.

Covering almost 2600 square feet, its takeaway menu offers all the usual favourites from the best selling Sesame Chicken Strips through to Nachos, burgers and vegan selections.

New items on the list now include a Boneless Chicken Dog and the Bucket of Bones.

Speaking to Dundee Live just after he cut the ribbon on Wednesday, Lord provost Ian Blackford told us: “It’s fantastic that as we move on from the pandemic, new restaurants and businesses are keen to open in the city.

“Fridays and Go will quickly become a firm favourite for locals and guests alike.

“I think it will be a real asset to the city in the years to come.”

While Fridays CEO Robert B. Cook added: “Dundee was the perfect fit for us to launch this venture - there are two amazing universities here and two huge football clubs so we should see a lot of customers.”

And he added: “Fridays and Go will deliver all the usual favourites you would expect on the menus of our flagship restaurants but packaged in a way that customers on the go should really love.

“All our staff are local, which is very important, and the unique locker system we have devised for courier delivery collections will really help customers ordering from home to bet their food nice and quickly.
