Former Everton defender Steve Watson has told a story involving Duncan Ferguson and an infamous sending off.
Watson made 134 appearances for the Blues from 2000-05, and played alongside Ferguson during their time together at Goodison Park. The former Everton assistant manager made 260 appearances for the club across two stints as a player.
While Ferguson is held in high regard among the Everton faithful, there was one match where that might not be the case. April 2002 saw the Blues beat Bolton Wanderers 3-1, but Ferguson was shown a red card in the 20th minute after elbowing opposition player Kostas Konstantinidis.

Reflecting on that game, Watson, who played at right-back that day, has explained how then-manager David Moyes reaction to Ferguson’s red card.
He then went on to reveal the expletive response from the former Everton striker - which cause plenty of amusement.
“We played Bolton and someone came in from behind him from a throw-in,” Watson told the Under the Cosh podcast. “Obviously once you make contact with him, you’ve got your life in your hands.
“Anyway, he (Ferguson) just threw his elbow and smashed the other player in the ribs. It was a straight red [card].
“We went into the dressing room and Moyes went up to him and said: ‘big man, what were you thinking? You’ve let us down massively’.
“And Dunc said: ‘I know gaffer, I thought it was f*****g [Kevin] Nolan'. That was his reasoning!"
