Dumfries-based storyteller Rolf Buwert has come up with a novel way to raise funds for the Disasters Emergency Committee’s aid for the people of Ukraine.
He is holding a fundraising evening of storytelling – traditional Scottish and European – next Friday, March 25, from 7.30pm to 9pm in Dumfries Baptist Church Centre in Gillbrae Road, Dumfries.
Rolf, who is the son of two German refugees who came to live in Dumfries after WWII, said the plight of Ukrainian refugees has struck a cord with him and he wants to help by raising funds for the people of Ukraine.
He added: “I’m doing my little bit and if people could come to this storytelling session that would be fantastic.”
Residents are being asked to go along to the church and make a donation to DEC to listen to the 12 stories from Rolf.
He said that there will be some traditional Scottish and European stories and some contemporary ones too.
Donations can also be made to Rolf’s Just Giving Page at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Rolf-Buwert.
