Two Dumfries curlers helped secure Scotland another world title at the weekend.
Scott Hyslop and alternate Jack Carrick were part of James Craik’s side which won the World Junior Curling Championships in Sweden.
The Scots topped the round-robin stage winning eight of their nine games before Saturday’s semi-finals.
Scotland took on Norway and were 6-1 up in the sixth end.
A spirited fightback from the Norwegians saw them score four points in the final three ends but it wasn’t enough as Team Craik won 7-5.
That set up Sunday’s final against Benny Kapp’s German quartet that Scotland had beaten 6-4 in the opening stages. The Germans trailed 3-1 after four ends and that was the only point they put on the board as Scotland emphatically won 7-1 in eight ends.
Scotland skip Craik said: “It feels pretty crazy right now, I don’t really believe it. I’m just so proud of the boys. They came out and shot the lights out there and played so well.
“That was one of our most clinical performances. Our week was perfect. I’m so over the moon. I couldn’t be prouder.”
It wasn’t to be in the women’s standings for Dumfries’ Fay Henderson.
She skipped the Scotland side, which included Stranraer’s Katie McMillan, to a 3-6 record in the round robin which meant they fell short of the play-offs.
