Local cricketer Chris McBride made his debut for the Scotland Men’s senior side in Dubai in Friday.
He played in the final dramatic Scotland two wicket win in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 against Oman where the Scotland squad achieved their tour objective with four wins out of four against them and Papua New Guinea.
He is the first player from Dumfries Cricket Club to have played for the Scotland Men’s team.
Scotland captain Kyle Coetzer said: “Chris deserves this chance and it is great to see guys from the wider squad pushing more experienced players.”
The 22 year-old batting all-rounder has had spells with Durham County, in Australia and captains the Oxford Universities side. Recent appearances for Scotland A, the Scotland Performance Academy and winter training with the Scotland core squad earned him his selection for this tour.
