Dumfries community champion Lee Vann-Wakelin is back with a new fundraising challenge for Easter.
He wants to help provide a meal for families struggling with the cost-of-living crisis.
The aim of Lee’s Easter Gesture challenge is to raise £2,000 in the coming weeks.
And if he can hit that target a mystery benefactor has offered to treble the amount.
Lee, 47, a learning assistant at Dumfries High School, said: “The gesture is a free meal for a family of four to six people for Easter.
“It will cost £10 per family and they will receive ingredients for a sausage and onion roast with potatoes, carrots, and Yorkshire puddings, ingredients for chocolate rice crispy nests, and mini eggs to fill them, plus two chocolate Easter eggs. So we are appealing to people in Dumfries and beyond, who have supported our fundraising before, to help us again by donating cash or indeed the Easter Eggs.”
Lee added: “I am delighted that we have been contacted by a benefactor who is willing to help us all hugely with the fundraising.
“The deal is that if we can raise £2,000 for the Easter Gesture through public fundraising, our benefactor will match that amount with their donation – making £4,000.
“On top of that they have now said that they are prepared to then double their donation, which would give us £6,000 to help as many families as we can.
“The identity of the benefactor is staying secret until we reach our target, so we really need people to dig deep and help us raise the £2,000 as quickly as we can.

Lee, helped by his wife, Louisa, and children Lincoln, Jaydon, Kennedie, Miyah and Liberty, and volunteers, raised funds to provide a seven-day food hamper for 250 underprivileged families in the town for Christmas.
