Communities across the region are preparing to mark Remembrance Sunday on November 13.
Buildings will also go red in support of the Scottish Poppy Appeal’s #LightUpRed campaign.
This will include Dumfries and Galloway Council lighting-up its English Street HQ in “red for Remembrance” to support the armed forces community.
The Scottish Poppy Appeal is in full swing, with a stall set up in the Loreburne Shopping Centre near Marks and Spencer, organised by William Turner.
A display of handmade poppies by Dumfries’ new crafters group, Make Do and Mend, has gone on display at Morrisons in Dumfries, with every one for sale to help the appeal.
The store’s community champion, Myra Smith, said: “We are happy to have teamed up with Dumfries Men’s Shed and Make Do and Mend Dumfries – who meet there each week – to create this year’s Poppy Appeal display in-store near the cafe.
“Members of the Men’s Shed made the impressive soldier.
“If you are in-store, please come and support the appeal by buying a poppy and take a look a look at other homemade items we have on sale to help raise funds for the appeal.
“We will also have some of our light up bottles available for a donation soon too.
“Thank you once again to all the knitters and crafters and collectors. We couldn’t do it without you.”
