Dumbarton snap up former Albion Rovers captain

Aron Lynas has signed a one-year deal at Dumbarton, a day after announcing his departure from Albion Rovers.

The 26-year-old defender, who can also operate in midfield, was captain at Cliftonhill last season and leaves after two years, having played over 100 times for the Coatbridge club.

In his time playing under boss Brian Reid, Lynas missed only two league games last season.

Lynas announced his departure from Rovers by saying: "All good things must come to an end, my time at Albion Rovers is up.

"I would like to thank management, fans, and everyone involved with the club for my time there.

"To captain the club was a great privilege and honour. I wish the club all the very best in the future."

Lynas was announced on a one-year deal this afternoon by Dumbarton, who were relegated via the League One play-offs last season, with manager Stevie Farrell saying: "Aron's versatility is a major asset to his game and it is well known that he will be in a 100 per cent shift every time he plays.

"We look forward to working with him."
