Dublin X Factor star Mary Byrne injured in horror crash after tour bus smashes into truck

Mary Byrne has been treated in hospital after her tour bus was involved in a horrific crash with a lorry.

The X Factor legend suffered arm injuries and tissue damage to her back and neck in the collision, which happened on Friday in the UK.

She has been touring in the UK with the cast of 'Menopause the Musical 2'.

It's understood that the tour bus she was on smashed into a truck that braked to avoid hitting a deer.

The 63-year-old described the crash as "the most frightening thing that has ever happened to me".

She told the Irish Sun: "The poor guy driving the lorry in front, a deer ran out in front of him and he swerved but ended up killing the deer and jamming on his brakes.

"We went right into the back of him. The whole front of our bus was wrecked, the engine was destroyed.

"It was like an explosion. That’s what it sounded like. All I could see was people being thrown from one end of the bus to the other.

"Some of them had seat belts on, but some of them hadn’t." She added that she was "so lucky I had mine on".

The show had been due to open in Woking on Saturday for its UK tour but was postponed.

The crash comes after Mary showed off her incredible six stone weight loss in April.

She revealed that her weight crept up to 21 stone after appearing on the talent show.

She told the Irish Mirror: "I looked at the picture of me on the show and me now and I honestly was shocked.

"Because it has happened gradually over the decade I guess I haven’t noticed it as much but yes, it is a shocking amount of weight loss. I was just under 21 stone on the show and I am now just over 15 stone.'

Mary said that the results have had such a positive influence over her health and praised her daughter for inspiring her to make a change.
