Dublin weather: Met Eireann's numerous warnings as Ireland braces for gale force winds

Good morning, folks! Met Eirean has forecasted some nasty conditions for the next few days.

A Status Yellow wind warning is in place for Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Meath, Wexford, Wicklow, and Waterford from 5pm until 9pm today. The alert reads: "Strong westerly winds with very strong gusts expected for a short time Tuesday evening, causing some disruption."

A yellow wind warning has been issued for Antrim and Down by the Met Office. Additionally, a gale alert warning of "southerly winds, veering southwest to west, will reach gale force 8 or strong gale force 9 at times" for all coasts of Ireland and on the Irish Sea was issued by Met Eireann this morning.

The alert will kick in at 2pm today and will be valid until midnight. Furthermore, a yellow wind warning will be in place for Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Galway, and Mayo tomorrow along with an orange storm warning from Roches Point to Loop Head to Rossan Point tomorrow.

Today will start off bright and dry but it will turn cloudy later with rain developing in the afternoon. There may be some downpours this evening and it will be very windy with winds increasing to strong and gusty and veering west. Daytime temperatures will be around 10 or 11 degrees.

Tonight will be blustery with rain clearing early to clear spells and occasional heavy showers. It will be fresh and gusty with southwest winds and rain will develop before the morning. The lowest temperatures will be around 0 to 3 degrees.

Tomorrow will be a very windy day with strong and gusty northwest winds. It will be mostly cloudy with spells of rain, heavy at times with possible downpours. but rain will ease in the evening with some clearer weather developing. The highest temperatures will be around 8 or 9 degrees.

There is no further forecast for Dublin but here's what the national outlook says:

Wednesday night

"Strong northwest winds will ease to a light or moderate westerly breeze. Winds will remain fresh in Ulster where rain will continue, but elsewhere it will be clearer with occasional showers. Lowest temperatures ranging from 0 in the south to 5 in the north.

Thursday

"A mix of sunny spells and showers, with cloud cover increasing from the south later on. Light or moderate westerly winds, fresher along the north coast. Highest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees."
