The cold weather has made a return this weekend with Met Eireann saying that the subzero temperatures is due to a "Polar front" sweeping across the country.
According to Met Eireann, it will be blustery today with widespread showers early, some heavy and of hail. Highest temperatures generally ranging 6 to 9 degrees in a moderate to fresh westerly wind. Becoming calm and clear by evening.
Tonight, some clear spells early in the night with a touch of grass frost possible as temperatures dip to between 2 and 5 degrees. Wet and breezy weather will push up from the southwest overnight as southeasterly winds freshen.

It comes as the Polar front, which is the meeting point of airmasses separating the Arctic and northern Europe, is continuing to plunge southwards across Ireland bring cold Artic air. However, Met Eireann has ruled out any snow arriving this weekend with temperatures to become "milder" heading into next week.
Meanwhile, Alan O'Reilly of Carlow Weather has warned that "unsettled" conditions will continue into the week ahead with wet, windy weather on the way. He tweeted on Saturday night: "An unsettled week ahead with some fast and deep lows developing. No direct hits showing at present but still a risk of wet and windy weather at times."
Monday
"A wet start to Monday with widespread falls of heavy rain. Outbreaks of rain will continue across most places into the afternoon with the potential for further spot flooding. Highest temperatures of 8 to 10 degrees. Fresh to strong and gusty southeasterly winds will slowly ease through the day.
Monday night
"Some scattered outbreaks of rain will occur, along with mist and fog patches. Where clear skies persist, frost will develop too. Lowest temperatures of 0 to 5 degrees, in no more than moderate westerly breezes.
Tuesday
"Scattered outbreaks of rain will occur, mainly across the north and northeast early on, and later across the southwest. Longer drier spells too though with some sunshine getting through too. Highest temperatures of 7 to 11degrees, in mostly moderate southwesterly breezes.
Tuesday night
"Wet and breezy weather will track up from the southwest overnight. Whilst a clearance will set in later, heavy showers will move into Atlantic counties. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 6 degrees in moderate to fresh southerly winds."
