Dublin weather: Met Eireann forecasts more thundery showers before near 20C scorcher

Don't put away those brollies just yet as Met Eireann has warned of a few more days of heavy rain.

Ireland will be lashed by more thundery showers this week before a weekend scorcher as the mercury is set to hit a warm 19 degrees. Today will start off with scattered showers and the occasional sunny breaks.

The showers will turn heavier in the afternoon with the highest temperatures of 13 or 14 degrees. Showers will be isolated early tonight but will become frequent again for the rest of the night with temperatures hitting the lows of 8 to 10 degrees.

A mix of sunny spells and scattered showers will dominate tomorrow with some of the showers turning heavy and possibly thundery. It will become drier in the evening with some lovely sunshine expected. Daytime temperatures will be around 13 or 14 degrees.

There is no further forecast for Dublin but here's what the national outlook says:

Thursday night

"Isolated showers early in the night but otherwise it will be dry with long clear spells. Patches of mist and fog will develop in light northerly or variable breezes. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees.

Friday

"Mostly dry with sunny spells although isolated showers may develop in the afternoon and early evening. Highest temperatures of 15 to 18 degrees with a light northerly breeze.

Friday night

"Dry with long clear spells. Areas of mist and fog will develop in a light and variable breeze. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees.

Saturday

"Mist and fog will clear during the morning, leaving a mostly dry day with spells of hazy sunshine. Isolated showers are possible in the afternoon and cloud will thicken from the west during the evening. Highest temperatures of 15 to 19 degrees with light and variable breezes."
