Dublin weather: Met Eireann forecasts a scorcher before temperature blip this weekend

Put your hats and slap on some sunscreen as the mini-heatwave is set to continue.

Ireland will bask in sizzling temperatures of over 20 degrees next week. While this weekend will start off warm but temperatures are expected to drop slightly on Sunday.

Met Eireann has also warned of a high level of UV rays today and tomorrow, according to Met Eireann. UV rays can be damaging to your skin and too exposure to UV radiation over a long period of time could lead to skin cancer.

Met Eireann has issued the following tips on staying safe in the sun:

  • Slip on clothing
  • Slop on sunscreen, use sun protection factor (SPF) 30 for adults and 50 for children
  • Slap on a wide-brimmed hat
  • Seek shade during midday hours
  • Slide-on sunglasses, wraparounds are best

Today will be dry with sunny spells and cloud with the highest temperatures will be 17 to 19 degrees. Tonight will be mostly clear and calm with the lowest temperatures of 6 to 10 degrees.

Tomorrow will be mostly dry with a mix of cloud and some sunny spells with a slight chance of an isolated shower. Temperatures will be around 19 to 20 degrees.

There is no further forecast for Dublin but here's what the national outlook says:

Saturday night

"Any lingering showers at first Saturday night will die out, becoming largely dry. Variable cloud cover with some clear spells. Lowest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees with light northerly winds.

Sunday

"A cooler day with highs generally between 14 and 18 degrees, although temperatures may struggle to reach the teens in the north. Light or moderate northeast winds. Mainly dry and quite cloudy with the chance of a shower in the south. Turning mostly sunny later in the afternoon.

Sunday night

"Cool on Sunday night with lowest temperatures between 4 and 7 degrees. A dry, clear night with light northeasterly breezes.

Monday

"Good sunny spells with just a little cloud building during the day. Highs between 17 to 20 or 21 degrees, warmest over the western half of the country and coolest along the eastern coast with a light to moderate easterly wind."
