Met Eireann has warned that unsettled conditions are on the way in the coming days with "heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms" forecast in a major weather switch up.
It will be wet and breezy for a time this morning before brighter and fresher conditions arrive from the west, with sunny spells and showers. Some of the showers could be heavy with a chance of isolated thunderstorms and a risk of flash flooding for some areas later this afternoon and evening.
Top temperatures of 20 degrees. Moderate to fresh southerly winds at first this morning easing light to moderate westerly as the rain clears, and the pollen count is set to remain high while UV rays will be moderate.
According to Independent forecaster Carlow Weather's Alan O'Reilly, today will see a "wet start for many". He tweeted: "A wet start for many but rain is moving across the country and the sunshine has already arrived in the West."

Saturday was one of the hottest days of the month, with Dublin recording top temperatures of 25.6c recorded in the capital. But it looks like in the coming days temperatures will drop into the early twenties.
Met Eireann is also keeping an eye as "one of the most severe marine heatwaves on Earth" has been forecast but only our seas are affected and air temperature over land is not being impacted. Here's Met Eireann's forecast for the coming days:
Tomorrow
Monday will bring with sunny spells and few scattered showers. Cloud will tend to increase as the day goes on. Highest temperatures of 18 or 19 degrees in light to moderate south to southwest winds.
Tomorrow night
Outbreaks of rain and drizzle becoming widespread with moderate southerly winds, fresh to strong near southern and Atlantic coasts. Lows of 13 to 15 degrees.
Tuesday
Damp, breezy and mostly cloudy to begin on Tuesday, with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle and patchy mist. Brightening up with some sunshine developing in parts of the east and south later in the afternoon and evening, but showers or longer spells of rain will affect the north and west, turning heavy at times. Highest temperatures of 18 to 22 degrees in a moderate to fresh southwesterly breeze.
Tuesday night
Outbreaks of rain will move southeastwards across the country on Tuesday night, with drier and clearer conditions following into the northwest. Lowest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees, coolest in the northwest, in a light to moderate southwesterly wind, veering west to northwest behind the rain.
Wednesday
Cloud and rain will clear the south and east on Wednesday morning and for the rest of the day there will be mostly dry and sunny weather. A few showers are possible in the north and west. Highest temperatures of 17 to 20 degrees in a light to moderate west to northwest wind.
According to Met Eireann, the weather for the coming week will be "changeable" with with showers and spells of rain at times.
