A Dublin TD has called for the Irish Government to make July 12 a public holiday.
The Green Party's Patrick Costello, who represents Dublin South-Central, has said that the Orangemen's Day is "an extremely important one historically for the island, and culturally for many people who live here".
In a statement this morning, he called on the Irish Government to make the 12th of July a public holiday, arguing that it would be a "major step" to unite all people on the island of Ireland.
