St Patrick's Day is just around the corner, and thousands of visitors are set to flock to Dublin to mark our patron saint's special day, with cheaper hotel accommodation on everyone's mind.
However, there's been backlash in recent days over hotel rooms on offer for hugely inflated prices, with one north Dublin hotel charging more than €1,300 for a room for three nights starting on March 17, while a city centre apartment was being advertised for St Patrick’s Day for €1,172 - breakfast not included.
Irish Tourism Industry Confederation chief Eoghan O’Mara Walsh told RTE's Claire Byrne that St Patrick’s Day weekend was particularly busy because of the parade, the Six Nations clash, and Mother’s Day. According to Booking.com there's low availability for hotel rooms on March 17 in Dublin, but there are bargains to be found and we scoured to find the cheapest hotel and hostel accommodation in and around Dublin city centre.
