Dublin's Capel Street is officially the 22nd coolest street in the world, according to a survey conducted by Time Out.
The 33-strong list was created based on a survey of more than 20,000 people living in cities all over the globe, and also included the thoughts of Time Out's editorial team. Each street that made the list is "chock-full of independent businesses, creative humans and everything else that makes urban life brilliant".
Rue Wellington in Montreal topped the list due to "killer cocktail bars, stellar brunch spots, some of the best sandwiches in town and even a sandy urban beach". Other features included Great Western Road in Glasgow, Yaowarat Road in Bangkok, and Oranienstrasse in Berlin.

When it came to Capel Street, the team at Time Out viewed it was worthy of 22nd and said "the buzz is like no other in the city". They said that you won't find the "glamorous shops of Grafton Street or the tourist-trap pubs of Temple Bar here" but instead there is "whirl of culture and some of the best food in Dublin, usually without any frills".
The recent pedestrianisation of the street was noted, "making it the ideal spot for sipping pints in the sun and just generally hanging out". They also gave shout-outs to the iconic Pantibar, poitín bar 1661 and Asian street food restaurant White Rabbit.
The Lord Mayor of Dublin Caroline Conroy said she is "absolutely delighted" that Capel Street made the list. "I used to cycle up this street to meetings in City Hall and I’d have to dodge the cars," she said.
"It’s heaven now, night and day. I know we still have work to do to make it feel truly like the special place I’m sure it will become, but we’ve made a start and today’s announcement is further proof that we’re moving in the right direction. So if you haven’t been on Capel St lately, come into town and see what you’re missing!”.
