Tobacco with a value of €1.3 million has been seized at Dublin Port today in a huge find for Revenue.
The 1.8 tonnes of roll your own tobacco had arrived from the Netherlands and was labelled with the brand "Flandria" with a Lithuanian tax stamp. It was found during routine searching at the port by Revenue.
A Revenue spokeswoman said that the find was part of the ongoing operation targeting the sale and supply of illegal tobacco in Ireland. Anyone with information is being urged to contact Revenue.

She said: "Today (04/10/2022), as a result of routine profiling, Revenue officers seized 1.8 tonnes of ‘roll your own’ tobacco at Dublin Port, with an estimated retail value of €1.3 million, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of approximately €990,000. The illicit tobacco, branded ‘Flandria’ and bearing a Lithuanian tax stamp, was discovered when officers searched a consignment that arrived into Dublin Port from the Netherlands.
"Investigations are ongoing. This seizure is part of Revenue’s ongoing operations targeting the shadow economy and the supply and sale of illegal tobacco products.
