A pub enthusiast has undertaken the impressive challenge of visiting 240 Dublin city centre pubs on foot over the course of just one day.
John Geraghty is the founder of Publin, which has its own podcast dedicated to the lore behind Dublin's historic pubs. He decided to complete a 12 hour walk today touring the city's taverns, ahead of the second series of his podcast.
He set out in the early hours this morning to visit city centre pubs using mapping software. However, due to time pressures he will only be able to enjoy a well-deserved pint at the end of his 35km journey.

John told Dublin Live: "I'm going off what the average Dubliner would consider the city centre to be. I had heard before of someone visiting each pub in Dublin city and county for a pint over the course of two years- I wanted to see if it was possible to touch the door of each city centre pub in Dublin over the course of a day."
The pub enthusiast was already halfway through his challenge by around 10:30am this morning. The quirky outing has already gained traction on social media, with many people cheering on John's travels.
The majority of pubs weren't open when John commenced his journey this morning. However, this didn't stop several pubs such as the Norseman and the Headline bar from wishing him well online.
John explained: "Nobody came out to greet me at the start as it was still too early. I realise I might look a bit strange going over to touch the wall of every pub."
The expert also made time to stop outside one of his favourite Dublin's pubs, the Lord Edward near Christchurch Cathedral. John explained that the historic pub looked beautiful in the early morning light and that he hopes to return for a needed pint there once every other entry is ticked off the list.
Stories behind Dublin's famous bars and taverns are available through Publin's website.
