Dublin GAA star Jason Sherlock lifted by gardai into New York St Patrick's Day parade

Dublin GAA star Jason Sherlock made a surprise appearance in the New York St Patrick's Day parade yesterday.

A video clip emerged of the 47-year-old front and centre as the parade made its way down 5th Avenue. A huge contingent of gardaí were marching in the parade but soon spotted the GAA hero.

A number of gardai stopped to chat Jayo and take photos but one group took it further and hoisted him over the barrier so he could join their march in the parade.

The officers chanted "Jayo" as they carried him down the street past the crowds who had gathered to watch the parade. An Garda Siochana shared the clip on social media on Friday evening and it has received thousands of views.

They wrote: "Our members are never off duty! An Garda Síochána’s contingent that travelled to NYC to proudly take part in today’s parade scoped out well known @officialgaa star, @boomjayo in the crowd.

"He’s now been taken in for questioning on his crimes against football!"
