Dublin Fire Brigade helped bring an eager baby into the world this weekend as emergency workers tended to a labouring mum.
Emma Tyrrell of Dublin's 98FM took to Twitter to thank Dublin Fire Brigade assisting with her baby's birth on Sunday. The newsreader realised her plans for a delivery in the National Maternity Hospital were dashed due to her lightening speed labour.
Fortunately, staff from Rathfarnham Fire Station came to the mum's aid within 15 minutes of her phone call. The paramedics/firefighters helped safely deliver Laoise, a healthy baby girl, within the comfort of her own home.

Dublin Fire Brigade wrote on Twitter: "Congratulations to baby Laoise who was in a big hurry this morning. Firefighter/paramedics Barry and Mark from Rathfarnham Fire Station assisted Mammy with the delivery at home. All doing well."
Emma chimed in with her own update following the Tweet. She also thanked Alice from Domino Midwives, who stayed on the phone with her during the frantic process and guided her on what to do.
Emma wrote: "I hadn't actually planned a home birth but the lads arrived with literal seconds to spare this morning-less than 15 minutes after we realised we weren't going to make it to the National Maternity Hospital. A huge thanks to Mark and Barry from our shell shocked little family."
People took to the comments section to congratulate Emma on the new addition to her family and applauded the work of emergency personnel.
One person commented: "Wow huge congrats. Your little lady certainly knew how to make an entrance."
Another person pointed out: "You are the news instead of writing it! Congratulations and welcome little Laoise."
Dublin Fire Brigade are no strangers to assisting new lives into the world. Phibsboro firefighters previously helped deliver a bouncing baby boy after his mum went into rapid labour.
Elsewhere, emergency staff in Dublin helped deliver two baby boys in separate circumstances over the course of one December night. People applauded the work of advanced paramedics from Kilbarrack Fire Station who assisted with the births.
