Dublin commuters are being warned over the latest changes coming to Dublin city centre as Capel Street becomes traffic-free in a matter of days.
From Friday, the street in the heart of the city will be entirely pedestrianised, meaning there are a number of changes to the routes surrounding it.
The only exception to the new layout is deliveries, which will have to be made between 6:00 am and 11:00 am.

Works will be carried out overnight on Thursday, May 19 to facilitate the new arrangements, and leaflets clarifying all changes have been distributed throughout the area.
There is also plenty of information online to help advise residents and businesses who are affected.
To ensure there is no major confusion, there will be traffic management on site for the first two weeks to allow people to get used to the changes.
Dublin City Council decided to move forward with these plans after public consultation - during which 1,766 submissions were received.
After counting it was found that 91% of these submissions were in favour of the proposal.
In a statement released today, the council confirmed: “The Central Area Committee voted unanimously to endorse the proposal.”
So, ahead of the conversion, here are key elements of the changes you need to know:
- Permanent closure at Parnell Street after Jervis Lane to remove through traffic on Capel Street.
- Delivery access will be facilitated between 6 am and 11 am. Car parking spaces will be removed and converted to loading bays to ensure there is sufficient space. There will be all-day loading provided at a number of side streets
- Mary’s Abbey traffic flow direction will be reversed and residents existing from Abbey Street will exit via Mary’s Abbey
- Mary Street between Capel Street and Jervis Lane will be reversed
- Strand Street Little and Strand Street Great will remain open to traffic all-day
- Initial street improvements including seating and greening are to be provided
- Emergency Vehicular access is maintained at all times as the emergency services will be able to access all locations on Capel Street
