Dublin coffee trader forced to move out of popular Nutgrove site

A local coffee trader is urgently seeking a new site for her enterprise after losing her Nutgrove patch.

Liza Kennedy first set up Cob Coffee in November 2020 alongside her brother Aaron. Although the duo didn't have backgrounds in food hospitality, the business quickly flourished and found a new home on a site located off Nutgrove Avenue.

The drive-through enterprise became popular amongst locals during the dark days of lockdown, with people ordering and collecting coffee from the comfort of their own vehicles. However, Liza's hopes were dashed this week upon receiving news that Cob Coffee would have to exit their site.

She told Dublin Live: "It would have been less of a dig if the business was failing financially, but it's done well. When we close the doors, there's no income anymore."

The business has become extremely popular amongst locals and customers have rallied around the staff since yesterday's announcement. Liza said that a customer, who was visibly upset by the closure, told her the business was what got her through Covid lockdowns.

Liza admitted: "We met so many people through our little set up who’ve been heavily affected by all walks of life: the pandemic, the housing crisis, people who are really struggling and have coffee as their sole treat. We made it our business to get to know people, have a chat with them and serve them really good coffee."

Cob Coffee is currently looking for a new yard or site within the locality. They are hoping to set up in the grounds of St Enda's Park, a five minute drive from Nutgrove Avenue.

However, there are no concrete plans for a new location yet. Nonetheless, Liza has received support from countless people online since she first posted about the closure.

She added: "It's a family owned business and we just don't want to see it go. We always feared that our circumstances might change once offices and schools reopened, but we overcame all those obstacles in the past."

The whole team are grateful for the outpouring of public support they've received on social media. They are appealing for anyone with information on a new site, temporary or otherwise, to get in touch online.
