Dublin City's Christmas lights will go on, pledged the organiser of the annual illuminations despite threats of power cuts in an escalating energy crisis.
Soaring energy costs will not dull the millions of twinkling lights that heighten the Christmas atmosphere on the capital's streets this year.
However the lights are connected to the national grid, so if there are power cuts, it will leave festive revellers in the dark.
