Dublin busker 'very uncomfortable' after swapping Henry Street to perform on Grafton Street

A Dublin busker famed for performing on Henry Street on the capital's northside has revealed he became 'very uncomfortable' after switching performance location.

Mick The Busker, or Mick McLoughlin, decided to move onto Grafton Street on the southside of the River Liffey. It was a big change after performing on Henry Street for ten years.

As he ventured over the river he joked he had his "passport in hand" and was most likely heading to Bewley's Cafe to perform. He streamed it online and it was viewed worldwide.

He said: "Passport in hand. Crossing the Liffey today. Going to be busking on Grafton street from 11 possibly at Bewley's." But he went on to add that he was only permitted to perform on the street for an hour due to Dublin City Council rules, saying: "Thanks everyone for watching Grafton St, wasn't for me. I was very uncomfortable there today. Back home tomorrow."

The Coolock native said that someone else was in line to take up his spot after the hour. He then returned to familiar territory and his spot on Henry Street.

Speaking to Dublin Live, he said: "It's a completely different feeling in Grafton street than Henry street there's more of a friendly atmosphere on Henry Street". He added that he felt uncomfortable due to the general vibe of the place and "people looking down their noses".
