Dublin Airport has closed the departures road outside Terminal 1 to all vehicles to allow for the erection of marquees where people will be held to manage queues.
Instead, those being dropped off at the airport can approach via Atrium Road and enter the airport from there.
Truckloads of workers arrived with materials to build the marquees on Thursday evening.

The changes come as thousands of passengers take to social media in rage over their delays and missed flights as staff work to minimise these issues going forward.
The new queuing areas will be covered and will have seating available as well as bathroom facilities as delays are expected to increase over the Bank Holiday weekend.
According to a statement released on Thursday afternoon, the designated waiting area will be in use from Friday morning and passengers are being advised to check specific timings for their journey.
A spokesperson for Dublin Airport said: “Departures Road outside Terminal 1 @DublinAirport is now closed to all vehicles.
“Passenger drop-off has moved to our Atrium Road. Departing passengers can enter via our Atrium. This change will remain in place for the coming weeks.
“This is to allow for the installation of covered passenger queuing areas outside of T1, for use if needed over the coming days & weeks
“These covered areas will be in place and available to provide shelter for passengers from the early hours of tomorrow (Friday) morning.”
The current advice for anyone coming through the airport remains the same, “Departing passengers are advised to allow 2.5 hours before a short-haul flight & 3.5 hours before a long-haul flight.
“Passengers should verify check-in & bag drop opening times with their airline & if they can, allow up to 1 hour of additional time to check-in luggage.”
Kevin Cullinane, Group Head of Communications for DAA said that people who arrive within the advised time will be given preferential treatment to enter the terminals and proceed to bag drop and security.
Thankfully, Mr Cullinane said the DAA does not anticipate needing to use their contingency plans over the June Bank Holiday weekend.
But he said: “Coming into busy summer months, we may need to deploy those in the weeks ahead.
"They’ll be covered areas like the Atrium building opposite T1, or the multi-story car parks beside T1 and T2. They are both protected from the elements.
"They’ll have toilet facilities, they’ll have refreshment areas."
