More than one million passengers will pass through Dublin Airport over the next 10 days as schools finish up for the summer.
Dublin Airport is now reminding passengers who are preparing to fly to destinations abroad in the coming days to arrive at their terminal two hours before a short-haul flight and three hours prior to a long-haul departure. Around 120,000 passengers expected to fly out today, according to airport operator daa.
Graeme McQueen, Media Relations Manager at daa, the operator of Dublin Airport said: "The schools are out and so are the swimming trunks and suitcases with the busy summer holiday season set to really get underway over the coming few weeks.
"Between 110,000 to 120,000 people will pass through Dublin Airport every day between now and early July as holiday-hungry travellers seek sun, fun, adventure and relaxation on the beaches of Europe and beyond.

"The team at Dublin Airport is ready to welcome each and every traveller and we look forward to getting their summer trip off to a smooth start," he added.
The most popular destinations from Dublin Airport for holidaymakers this year is Spain, Portugal, north America and Canada. To prepare for the busy summer, Dublin Airport has been hard at work to make improvements at its terminals.
This includes faster security screening thanks to new machinery, more seats at departure gates, as well as more taxi and bus routes.
Graeme McQueen said: “We continue to listen closely to passengers to ensure we’re getting it right for them. One of the core aims of our plan is to get at least 90% of passengers through security screening in under 20 minutes this summer and we’ve exceeded this target over the past seven weeks, with 97% through in 20 minutes or less.”
A major €200m baggage system has also recently been implemented at Dublin Airport just in time for the peak tourist season. The new system's installation began during the Covid-19 pandemic when the airport was extremely quiet and was completed in May.
The system includes more than 14 kilometres of conveyer belts, covering an area the equivalent to seven GAA pitches.
Meanwhile, Dublin Airport has once again seen its carparks fill up quickly. Irish holidaymakers are reminded to book their parking ahead of their flights this summer.
Dublin Airport wrote on Twitter: "If you don’t have a booking then please make plans to travel to Dublin Airport via an alternate method such as by bus, taxi or by being dropped off by a friend or relative."
Passenger numbers have soared recently as summer travel begins. The airport welcomed approximately 425,000 passengers over the June Bank Holiday weekend.
