Dublin Airport: Ryanair advise passengers arrive over three hours early due to 'staff shortages'

Ryanair has advised Dublin Airport passengers arrive at least three and a half hours before their departure time due to staff shortages.

The airline said the rationale for the change in policy was due to a short of Dublin Airport Authority security staff.

It was previously normal to arrive two hours before departure time.

Ryanair tweeted: "Due to DAA staff shortages at Dublin Airport, passengers should arrive at least 3.5 hours before their scheduled departure time.

"Check-in Desks, Kiosks and Baggage Drop will be open 3.5 hours before departure.

"We apologise to our customers for these unfortunate security delays, which are entirely out of our control."

Social media has been alight with complaints about the long wait times getting through security at Dublin Airport lately.

Yesterday, many unhappy passengers missed their flights from Dublin Airport this morning due to queuing "chaos".

And the "disgraceful" delays continued into the evening, with one passenger saying just two security lanes out of ten were open at 7:50pm.

Some people have said they queued over three hours for security while others said they were waiting over 90 minutes even with Fast Track.

Dublin Live have contacted daa for comment.
