Dublin Airport passengers describe 'appalling' conditions as 'toilets blocked' and terminals 'littered with rubbish'

Dublin Airport has been coming under fire online once again but for a whole host of reasons aside from lengthy queues and delays.

While issues seen in recent months have been improved with new staff and queuing systems, it seems the airport hygiene itself is ‘appalling’ according to some passengers.

Hundreds of people have been posting their experiences on Twitter, and some have even shared pictures to back up their disgust with claims of everything from clogged toilets, to rubbish and bottles littering terminal 1.

One passenger wrote: “@DublinAirport the experience is absolutely appalling! Yes, understandable that there's a crowd but what is not understood is delayed flights and the general uncleanliness!

“Why don't you guys start hiring more staff if low staffing is the problem? How do you explain the delays?”

A second said: “Jaysus ⁦@DublinAirport⁩ what’s going on with the toilets? Massive queues, loads of blocked cubicles, no toilet paper.”

A third added: “Terminal 1 gate 223. Seriously - the toilets are disgusting. It’s been quite a while since they were cleaned.

“Layer of dust on back of the toilet that shows it wasn’t cleaned properly whenever it was last cleaned. 715am. You guys can do better than this.”

It seems the issue has been ongoing over recent weeks as another passenger wrote: “@DublinAirport this is disgusting terminal 1 Friday 17th June at 8pm. Did you not learn anything from covid?”

“We were there a couple of weeks ago, it was disgusting by gates - spilt drink and food all over the floor, beer bottles everywhere.”

Dublin Airport has been contacted for comment.
