A number of Dublin Airport bound flights were diverted this evening as thunderstorms hit the capital.
A Status Yellow thunderstorm warning is in place for eleven counties including Dublin until 9pm this evening with Met Eireann warning of spot flooding and hazardous driving conditions.
Numerous flights arriving into Dublin Airport were placed into holding patterns after 7pm due to the bad weather and at eleven flights were diverted to other airports. All aircraft returned to Dublin later in the evening.
Arrivals resumed shortly after 8pm as the thunderstorms subsided.
A spokesman for daa told Dublin Live: "Electrical storms in the vicinity of Dublin Airport led to some disruption on Monday evening with a number flights being diverted to other airports. A total of 11 flights were diverted, with all aircraft returning to Dublin Airport later in the evening.”
