Concerts, walking tours, workshops and other cultural events are set to take place across The Liberties and Dublin 8 this weekend as Culture Date with Dublin 8 takes place this Saturday and Sunday, May 14 and 15.
The festival is a neighbourhood initiative that was set up to celebrate the rich culture of the historical area of the city. Noting the district's cultural, architectural and historical heritage, people who live and work locally are being encouraged to explore what is available to them right on their doorstep.
A range of pre-weekend activities will happen this Friday, May 13 which includes a Guinness in the Liberties walking tour and tours of The Edward Worth Library.

At Richmond Barracks, there will be the launch of two creative Dublin 8 projects. Illuminations is the first anthology of writing from the Richmond Barracks Writers Group. Meanwhile Home Truths is a graphic short story based on engagement with residents at the Croft and Hollybrook Lodge nursing homes in Inchicore.
Also on Saturday is free entry to Christchurch Cathedral, Dublinia and a Dublin 8 Lego hunt at Marsh's Library featuring significant Irish figures from the library's past.
Sunday looks just as packed with free events and activities on the day including Phoenix Park tours, a Sunday stroll walking tour of The Liberties and self guided tours of Cabbage Patch Graveyard in Portobello.
